The Glories Of Mother Cow

The Glories Of Mother Cow

In India from many thousands of years cow is worshiped as mother and has always been given an important place. But at this age the rate of killing of cows is going on increasing day by day. There are 2 main reasons for this:- 1. Today’s generation doesn’t know the importance of Cow. 2. Today’s people doesn’t know the benefits obtained from Cow. If we just go on speaking of Glories of cow for days, weeks, months, years then too that much time will not be enough. In Rig Veda it is said,”Gostumatranavidyate”. There is no great mother except cow in this whole universe. Our own mother feeds us her breast milk upto 5 yrs. Today’s mothers not even feed their babies for more than 2 yrs. But Cow feeds us with her milk throughout her life. “Gavo no parmaanmita”: Cow is our best friend. Cow is a Satvaguni animal: There are 84 lakhs species in the whole universe. 9 lakhs Aquatic animals, 20 lakhs different species of trees, 11 lakhs insects, 10 lakhs birds, 30 lakhs animals, and 4 lakhs humans. But amongst these only Cow is satvaguni. For worshiping the Lord and also to progress in devotional life satvagun is very necessary. If we associate with Cow, do some service to her then there is a chance that we can achieve some satvagun through her.Forget of service, even if we stand near cow for some time there is a transformation in our thoughts. Cow is very Useful to us. It gives us milk. Cows milk is nectar. We have not tasted the nectar available in swargaloka but cow’s milk is the Amrita of this martyaloka. By drinking cows milk our mind becomes stable and we can concentrate on our sadhana. Our body becomes active and we start hopping like the young calf of the cow. Our bones become strong by drinking cow’s milk. Cow gives us urine, gomutra. Cow’s urine can treat each and every disease if used in proper proportion. It is said that it can even nullify the effect of poison. By drinking fresh urine of cow people can reduce their fats. According to scientists, Cows urine can be used against sleeplessness, piles, teeth diseases, asthma, eye diseases, acidity, indigestion, heart diseases etc. Medicines which we buy from medical shops has a manufacturing date and an expiry date which says that this medicine will not be useful after so and so date. But in case of cow’s urine its power goes on increasing as it starts getting old. Cows urine is also useful against insects like mosquitoes, flies, etc if used to clean floors of the houses. Cow gives us cow dung. Italian scientist,G E Begede has discovered that cow’s dung can treat malaria. American scientist,James Martin has proved that if cow dung along with seawater is sprinkled on barren land, then the land becomes fruitful. Cow dung can absorb pollutants in water caused by steamers. Houses made of Cow dung cannot be destroyed by thunderbolts, also people staying in those houses cannot be affected by nuclear bombs. Even when Cow is so useful the main reason to worship her is that she is very much dear to Lord Krishna. One Bollywood Hero killed 1 deer and was considered to be an offender and was announced to be prisoned for 4 yrs by the Indian government. But on the other side the same Indian government gives license to slaughter houses to kill hundreds of sacred cows each day. It is necessary to stop this. Please help in Cow...

Cow as Mother

Cow as Mother

Irrespective of caste or religion, ancient texts describe seven mothers for human kind as follows: atma-matagurohpatni, brahmaniraja-patnika dhenurdhatritathaprthvi, saptaitamatarahsmrtah One’s own mother, the wife of the spiritual master (guru), the wife of a brahmin (or a saint), the wife of a king, the cow, the nurse (care taker), and the earth are known as the seven mothers of a man. One’s own mother and nurse is very much understandable in this context. Earth bears our weight and never rebukes even when we spit and do all non sense. The wife of spiritual master, saint and king help us in gaining spiritual and economic benefits. But why cow? What’s so special about her? A mother is one who not only nourishes but also protects her child from present and prospective future dangers. Cow is blessed with such qualities. There are myriad injunctions in vedic scriptures glorifying cows and her worth in this regard. Buffalo and other mammals also give milk but why are they not called a mother or at least aunt? It has been found through modern researches at agricultural universities that if the same fodder containing DDT, BHC and other pesticides is given to the cow and buffalo, the milk of cow contain only 5% of DDT and BHC etc, while that of buffalo contains 12% of the same. Moreover, buffalo’s milk makes mind dumb because the milk carries the property of its source (there are many idioms on buffalo conveying its dumbness). We notice that the calf of a cow can recognize his mother at once amongst hundreds of cows but a calf of a buffalo would mistakenly approach other buffaloes and gets kicked away. Cow gives countless gifts in the form of milk, yoghurt, ghee, dung and urine (Panch-gavya) necessary for economic and spiritual advancement of human society. The manure from cow and bull makes soil fertile and healthy and only healthy soil can give nutritious food. People have cited many life time incidents where their cow has tried to save their lives without caring for hers. No wonder that she is known as the mother of the world –...

Cow Protection

Cow Protection

The term “Cow Protection” brings many meanings to many minds based on faith and culture. Some say “why protection”? Some say “why cows, why not polar bear”? Some get involved in this movement without really knowing “what does it mean and why and how should one do it”? Many believe that humans have souls while animals don’t. So humans are superior and can consume the innocent animals. If GOD wanted us to be superior, he could have made humans survive on stones and woods. Why would He want one of His child (the humans) to butcher His another child (the animals)? How GOD can be a merciful father then? This looks controversial! All of us know that animals have souls and feelings as we humans do. No animal should be slaughtered. Note that “Slaughtering” and “Killing” is different. One may kill an animal to fulfill a higher purpose but slaughtering is to kill an animal for self enjoyment or whims (like modern science experiments) when there is no such need! Slaughtering does not only mean to personally bring an animal to death but providing resources/facilities/motivation etc in the chain of killing an animal is also slaughtering. So, the owner of an abattoir or a meat eater or an animal seller is also an indirect slaughterer. Further, using products made from animal parts like their fat/blood/skin/bone etc are also increasingly causing animal slaughter. AVOID THEM…PLEASE!!! We must understand that without agriculture, existence is not possible on this planet (even for meat eaters). So, what is good for agriculture, is good for us. Research in traditional and agricultural science has proved that cow (bull) dung manure is an excellent organic fertilizer and cow (bull) urine is one of the best natural pesticides. Cow milk and its bi products are extraordinarily nourishing to the mind and body which help in spiritual advancement attaining the higher cause for human life. It’s not only for milk, that cow is regarded as mother, but because of the extra love and care she reciprocates with. Hence the motive of cow protection is multi-fold: economic, spiritual and emotional. Not many people have time and dedication to serve cows physically. They can at least stop using products made from sinless animals. In fact there are better options available if one is little bit compassionate towards them. Cow protection is not only to save cows from butchers but also to take the responsibility to take care of them. What is the point in saving them from merciless killing but leave them for starving or plastic killing. We see so many cows on roads looking for food and shelter, but how many of us have tried to protect them? We think – No butchers there, no protection...

Vedic Indian Cow

Vedic Indian Cow

An Indian vedic cow or bull is highly adapted to high temperatures and is characterized by a fatty hump, dewlap (hanging fold of loose skin on the neck) and the rounded back part where the back meets the legs. All these bodily features distinguish them immediately from the foreign breeds like Jersey, Holstein, Ayrshire, Guernsey, etc. Indian cow’s DNA has amino acid PROLINE at location 67 out of 209 elements. This got converted into HISTIDINE due to mutation caused by migration of Indian cows to the west. Originally, Proline (at position 67) is very firmly attached to its neighbor ISOLEUCINE (at position 66) but Histidine (after mutation) is not that firm. Consequently, it breaks easily during human digestion of milk protein and forms a casomorphin called BCM7. BCM7 is an opioid (narcotic) which is very strong oxidant and adversely affects human body similar to other opioids of its category. The milk containing BCM7 is termed as A1 milk (i.e. amino acid histidine at position 67) while the milk without BCM7 is called A2 milk (i.e. amino acid proline at position 67). The potential release of BCM7 is about 0.4 grams per litre of milk assuming that there are 12 gm of ß-casein per litre. Keith Woodford, Professor of Farm Management and Agribusiness at Lincoln University in New Zealand brings together the evidence published in more than 100 scientific papers, examines both the population studies and the research undertaken with animals and humans, and explains the scientific cause behind diseases and health problems due to digestion of milk from cows in New Zealand, Australia and many other western countries. Fortunately, Indian cow milk DOES NOT contain BCM7 and hence is of type A2. Modern research in America has also revealed the fact that the milk (or products) from a correctly fed Indian breed cow doesn’t cause any human...
